Building a home; starting from scratch!
Where to start?
My family and I are currently on a dream home journey. We are at the beginning, and it looks like a long road ahead. We have the location and approximate site size. Now what’s next?
Wishlist:
We have been putting together a Wishlist of all the things we want our home for 5 to include. Right now it’s a focused list on sizes of spaces, how many bathrooms, how many people do we want to fit at the kitchen island, walk in pantry off the garage, mud-room, backyard access to a bathroom, covered deck. We also are considering VANTAGE POINTS!
A vantage point is what you can see from a particular position.
Our vantage point wish list:
- See the backyard from the kitchen, see the front driveway from the kitchen.
- Access and view the backyard from our master bedroom.
- View the front driveway from both offices, and backyard from one of the offices.
Years out
Unfortunately we are still years out from seeing our dream home come to life. With the uncertainty of material costs, we need to make sure it is financially feasible for us.
The positive to being years out is we can take the time necessary to source the ideal products and finishes for our home. Design details will be mapped out before the build begins and there is a solid plan in place.
Friendly Reminder: Patience is key. Good things take time, and your dream home is worth the wait.
